Therapy Sessions
Who do you treat?
Anyone, including children*, as long as the service required is within the scope of training to treat. Please contact me with any specific service requests to see if we are a good fit.
*All potential clients, including children, are screened free of charge for appropriateness via a phone session prior to in-person appointments.
What does a typical session include?
An evaluation of your current condition, a treatment strategy, including hands on skills and exercises as needed, and education and activities to perform on your own.
How long is a session?
A typical session is 1 hour. A session minimum is 30 minutes and would include an evaluation but treatments would be minimized to the remaining time, if any. A session can also exceed 1 hour if both the client and the therapist believe it is necessary.
How much is a 1 hour session?
The cost of any session is dependent on the type of service being requested and the location, however we are happy to provide a Good Faith Estimate of our costs upon request or upon scheduling. Payment is due at time of service, in full. Acceptable payment options include cash, credit card, FSA/HSA, Venmo, and Zelle.
What if I need to cancel my appointment?
If cancellation is necessary, we require that you call at least 24 hours in advance of your appointment time. If an appointment is cancelled less then 24 hours or you miss an appointment without cancelling, you will be charged the full appointment amount agreed upon in your initial quote.
Aquatic Therapy
Do I need a pool for aquatic therapy treatments?
A pool is required for aquatic therapy treatments. Lakes and other natural bodies of water are not clear enough for proper treatment and safety. If you do not own a pool, services can be provided in a public pool setting like a community pool, YMCA, health club, etc. Please check the rules regarding guests (the therapist) at these facilities.
Do I need to know how to swim for aquatic therapy treatments?
Swimming is rarely a treatment approach and is not required. A client does need to be comfortable in the shallow end of their pool with basic water safety skills. Aquatic services should not be requested if a client is not comfortable being in the water by themselves.
Do I need any equipment?
Proper dress is required during sessions. Specific equipment like flotation belts, paddles, dumbbells, weights, etc are not required but may be recommended.
Physical Wellness
What is the difference between Physical Wellness and Physical Therapy?
Physical Therapy is the treatment of pain and impairments caused by musculoskeletal injury or disorders. Physical Wellness targets personal goals of overall health, aesthetics, endurance, or performance.
How do I know if I need Physical Wellness services or Physical Therapy services?
The complimentary screening call will begin the process of learning your goals and health history. This information guides which services are likely to be required.
Referrals
Do I need a referral for services?
North Carolina is a Direct Access state, which means you can seek services from any Physical Therapist without a referral. Some insurance carriers may require a referral after the initial evaluation to continue services or to potentially be reimbursed for services. Performance services do not require a referral as these services are not managed or reimbursed by insurance.
Do you contact my insurance in regards to a referral?
AlbyPT does not contract with any insurance provider. Any referral requirements must be addressed by the client. Any documentation requirements will be provided to the client at their request.
How can I find out my referral requirements?
Look for the customer service number on the back of your card or on the insurance website. Ask the insurance representative if there is a referral requirement for service or reimbursement by an out-of-network provider.
Insurance
Do you take insurance?
AlbyPT is not contracted to any insurance carrier. Our services are considered out-of-network and may be reimbursable dependent on your insurance carrier.
Do you accept Medicare?
AlbyPT is not an enrolled Medicare provider. If the services you are seeking are covered by Medicare, you should obtain them from a Medicare enrolled provider if you want Medicare to pay for your services.
Is your service reimbursable by my insurance?
There are several services that are provided by AlbyPT that may be reimbursed at an out-of-network rate by a client’s insurance carrier. AlbyPT encourages all clients to contact a customer services representative of their insurance carrier to better understand their individual benefits.
Can you bill my insurance for reimbursement on my behalf?
AlbyPT does not have the overhead to provide this type of service to our clients. A client is responsible to submit for their own reimbursement. A superbill and any other documentation relevant for reimbursement will be made available at a clients request. These documents will be issued to the client only.
Covid-19
Are your therapists vaccinated?
Yes. Our AlbyPT employees are fully vaccinated against COVID-19.
What is AlbyPT’s COVID-19 policy?
AlbyPT will be following current CDC recommended guidelines when visiting clients, and we will be masked at all times for in-person sessions. We do not require vaccinated clients to be masked, but strongly encourage it. However, we do request that all non-vaccinated clients be masked during their appointments.
We also strongly encourage non-vaccinated individuals to get the safe COVID-19 vaccine.
